How to use the hash generator

  1. Type text, or pick a file.

  2. Read the MD5, SHA-1, SHA-256, SHA-384 and SHA-512 hashes.

  3. Paste a checksum to compare it with the calculated hashes.

Frequently asked questions

Which hash should I use?

Use SHA-256 or stronger. MD5 and SHA-1 are fine for checksums, but they are broken for security purposes such as signatures.

Can I hash passwords with this tool?

Do not store passwords as plain hashes. Use a password hashing function such as bcrypt or Argon2, which are slow on purpose.
