How to use the epoch converter

  1. Paste one or more timestamps, one per line. Seconds and milliseconds are recognised automatically.

  2. Read the date in UTC, in your own time zone and in ISO 8601.

  3. To go the other way, pick a date and time and copy its timestamp.

Frequently asked questions

How do I know if a timestamp is in seconds or milliseconds?

Timestamps of today have 10 digits in seconds and 13 digits in milliseconds. Toolbox treats numbers with 12 digits or more as milliseconds.

What is the year 2038 problem?

Systems that store the timestamp as a signed 32-bit number overflow on 19 January 2038 at 03:14:07 UTC. This converter uses JavaScript numbers, which go far beyond that date.
